夏至（げし）summer solstice

　夏げ至しというのは、一年いちねんで一番いちばん太陽たいようの出でている時じ間かんの長ながい日ひです。

　The midnight sun means that the sky does not darken and the dim light continues for a long time after sunset. It may continue until sunrise.
