ポッキーの日（ぽっきいのひ）Pocky Day

　11月がつ11日にちは、ポッキーとプリッツの日ひです。

　ポッキーとプリッツは、日本にほんのおいしいお菓子かしです。

　ポッキーとプリッツは、江崎えざきグリコという大阪おおさかの製菓せいか会社がいしゃの製品せいひんです。

　ポッキーとプリッツの形かたちが数字すうじの1と似にていることから11月がつ11日にちを「ポッキーとプリッツの日ひ」にしました。

　最初さいしょは、平成へいせい11年ねん（1999年ねん）11月がつ11日にちの1が6個ろっこ並ならぶ日ひから始はじまったそうです。

　江崎えざきグリコでは、最初さいしょ、社名しゃめいにもなっているグリコというキャンディーを売うり始はじめました。

　その後ご、グリコ以外いがいのお菓子かしも作つくろうと考かんがえて、焼やき菓子がしとしてプリッツを売うり出だしました。

　そして、プリッツを元もとにして、チョコレートをまわりにつけたポッキーが作つくられました。

　手てにチョコレートがつかないように、ポッキーの端はしにチョコレートをつけないようにしました。

　この形かたちは、大阪おおさかで有名ゆうめいな串くしカツの食たべ方かたを真似まねして作つくられたそうです。

　ポッキーは、世界せかいの多おおくの国くにで売うられています。

　令和れいわ2年ねん（2020年ねん）には、「2019年ねんに世界せかいで最もっとも売うれたチョコレートでコーティングされたビスケット」としてギネス世界せかい記録きろくに認定にんていされました。

Pocky Day

November 11 is Pocky and Pritz Day.

Pocky and Pritz are delicious Japanese snacks.

Pocky and Plitz are products of an Osaka-based confectionery company called Ezaki Glico.

The shape of Pocky and Pretz resembles the number 1, which is why November 11 was chosen as “Pocky and Pretz Day.

It was first started on November 11, 1999（Reiwa11), a day when six 1’s were lined up in a row.

Ezaki Glico first started selling a candy called Glico, which is also the company name.

Later, the company decided to make sweets other than Glico, and started to sell Prits as a baked good.

Later, Pocky was created based on the original Pretz, with chocolate dipped around it.

To prevent chocolate from sticking to hands, the edges of the Pocky were not covered with chocolate.

This shape was created to imitate the way Osaka’s famous kushikatsu (skewered pork cutlets) are eaten.

Pocky is sold in many countries around the world.

In 2020, Pocky was recognized by Guinness World Records as the “World’s best-selling chocolate-coated biscuit in 2019.
